Too wierd to be true... but it is... Elders???

well yesterday i go the visit of two elders of my congregation, my wife told them that i was acting like an apostat as i talked two days before to two mormons, yes i told them that that they were in a cult like the jw's and they couldn't think for themselves like us, boy i got a real sermon from them, my wife told them that i was on anti-depresants and that they made me ack a bit crazy sometimes, well i know one thing, it wont be the last time i will here from them.

i know 3 years ago i got a talk by the elders but that time it was for buying lotto tickets, again my wife found a ticket in my pocket that i forgot when i put my cholths for washing.

i got the talk, but no sanctions again.

According to california law I was allowed a trial by jury and that was the route I was going to take even had the Judge call for a jury. As I was sitting in the court house the Judge was telling me how to select a jury, I started to get a little over whelmed and really didn't think I would be able to do a good job at defending myself, I guess a little nervous too so I asked the Judge what would be my fine if I pleaded guilty he said $50. I asked him if it would be a bad mark on my clean record and he said not to worry because he was a Judge and he had worse on his record but it didn't stop him from being a Judge.

So the long and short I pleaded guilty and paid my small fine. In the process I was able to tell all in the court at that time to make sure to watch the Dateline that night and most their expressed that they would(facial expressions).

Even durring all the proceedings I was able to explain to the court alittle about what the Society teaches about person who disagree with them and How my family who are witnesses shun me for fear they would themselves be shunned if they were caught fellowshipping with me. Those in the court were shocked and I'm sure I had there sympathy.

i open the door to find two gray-haired men wearing white shirts and ties, trying to hand me the latest copies of the watchtower and awake magazines.. this is the actual conversation that followed:.

have you ever sung alternative lyrics to kingdom songs during a meeting or a convention?

to qualify they have to sound very similar to the actual words so you can get away with it without too much attention being drawn to yourself.

Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum

sometime in late 1969 to 1970, the number one hit song "spirit in the sky" by norman greenbaum was interesting to me.

don garloff, jr., the jw man who brought me into the religion lived next to norman greenbaum ... don told me that norman based part of his song about going to heaven to meet the "spirit in the sky" as a rebuttal to the jw belief system of living on earth forever.

norman greenbaum at that time lived in the rural areas near petaluma, california ... i was listening to the radio a while ago and heard this song again, and thought that this might be an interesting bit of trivia.

I have to say I love that song,.. makes me think about God. When ever I hear it on the radio I blast it too.

i say with mixed feelings and fingers crossed, but i haven't read any of you knows totally stupid and un-thought provoking posts the last few days and i was wondering if he had finally realised what a total moron he sounds or whether simon has done the decent thing and blocked the idiot from posting...or is it just wishfull thinking on my part???

You Know posts here because he needs attention, he craves it good or bad.

I think if everybody only responded to posts were he's starting to use common sense and no response to his posts when he shows gross stupidity,.. he may come around because he is such an attention seeker.

He surely must delight that his threads get so much attention.

I mean think of it,... what pssible reason could he have for posting what he does,... he deffinitly isn't get any converts, he just wants attention and we give it to him.

Samuel Herd is Token Black Man of GB?

I would really like to hear anyone opinion. Given that since the days of CT Russell no Man of color has been allowed to hold as high an office as whites have.

CT Russell himself felt black were good for servants, and came under Noahs curse. When I was at Bethel in the 70's they would not accept black and white couples, which latter changed around 1976.

I wounder to how Sam Herd is dealing with this all white GB with him as the exception?

Did he have to show an Uncle Tom like fawning over this all white group to be concidered safe to elect to the GB?

Will he be a force for change on the GB that has been white dominated for so long?

Also do you think the GB made him a member to quite any charge of raceism that the friends may have been entertaining? Was politics behind their choice of Herd to be part of the elete?
